Dear California Academy Members,
[/td]
As I begin my term as President of the California Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics for 2025–2026, I want to extend a heartfelt welcome to each of you. It is an honor to serve this passionate, accomplished, and forward-thinking community of nutrition professionals.

We stand on the shoulders of those who led before us—leaders who have built a strong foundation for our Academy. I want to especially thank Dr. Sangeeta Shrivastava and all past presidents, board members, volunteers, and district leaders for their dedication and vision. Because of their leadership, we are well-positioned to take bold next steps.

Together, we have ambitious goals ahead:

  • Achieving licensure for dietitians in California
  • Growing and strengthening our membership
  • Delivering high-quality education and engagement opportunities
  • And doing it all while remaining financially responsible and sustainable

To achieve these goals, we must create a culture where innovation is welcomed, diverse perspectives are celebrated, and every member feels included, heard, and valued. This is your California Academy—and your voice, your ideas, and your participation are vital to our collective success.

This year, we are also focused on cultivating the next generation of leaders. Whether you’re a student, a new professional, or someone who has never served before—you are qualified to lead. Your lived experiences, your curiosity, and your commitment to our field are exactly what our Academy needs. Leadership is not reserved for a select few; it is a space for you. I invite you to get involved—by joining as a member, volunteering, or stepping into a leadership role within your district or at the state level.

Let’s stay connected!

We want to hear your voice and celebrate your work. Follow the California Academy on social media ( Facebook , Instagram , and LinkedIn ) to stay informed, get involved, and be inspired. Share your achievements, tag us in your events, and use your platform to elevate the dietetics profession in California. Also, be sure to check your email for our monthly newsletters—they’re full of important updates, upcoming events, and opportunities to engage with fellow members across the state.

We are stronger together. And together, we can ensure a vibrant future for our profession in California and beyond. Thank you for the trust you’ve placed in me. I look forward to the journey ahead, and all that we will accomplish—together.

“The most powerful leadership is when you help others see their own potential and believe they can rise to meet it.”
