A lot of us have some idea of the things we need to do to transform our businesses but few of us follow through on all the advice that is being generously given out by the consultants, coaches, accountants etc we pay our hard earned monies to advise us. If your business isn’t making enough money to sustain your dream lifestyle (something I’m very passionate about) then you need to do something about it today. Not tomorrow, not next week or next month! You need to start today!
Here is a list of business activities that require little to no financial investment but are guaranteed to transform your business.
1. Give away freebies both online and off-line
Giving away sample of your products or offering free services is a marketing hook that every small business needs to adapt. It gives people the chance to sample your products and services and ultimately educate them about your business. It is an opportunity to test the market and gather feedback without damaging your business’ reputation. You should seriously consider this for your business if you are not already doing it.
2. Joint ventures with other complimentary businesses
Targeting individual consumers is time intensive and costs a lot of money. Why not spend some time thinking about other complimentary businesses that target the same demographics that you target and engage with those businesses instead. For example, a photographer should be working closely with event managers, wedding planners etc because you target the same people and together you will be offering a more appealing proposition to your clients. It is a win-win situation!
I’m still amazed by the number of people who don’t collect and display testimonials from their customers. Testimonials are a key way of validating your services and showing prospecting clients that you are who you say you are! The process of collecting feedback or testimonials will alert you to any issues your customers have with the way you currently do things. Ultimately it is an opportunity to improve your current offering and also develop other offerings to fill any gaps identified. Start collecting and using testimonials religiously and use them in your marketing materials if you are not already doing so.
