sales and cash-flowWe all just love the idea of outsourcing and delegating everything in the business don’t we?

If I could outsource my entire life as Tim Ferris advocates in the 4-hour week, I would. I’d just turn up for the fun bits :).

Unfortunately trying to outsource your entire business is not a smart idea – particular when business isn’t so good.

You can outsource and delegate areas of business that you do not enjoy or are particularly competent at, but the responsibility for sales and cash flow is not something I would advice anyone to delegate responsibility for.

You can bring in people with the necessary expertise and support to help you do these things better, but at the end of the day, the responsibility still rests firmly with you.

The reason I say this is because, these two areas are mission critical for success. They will signal you of trouble in other areas of the business so you are able to mitigate those before they become cancerous.

Any entrepreneur’s key role (as I see it) is to bring in the business and look after your money and of course you have to have happy clients). Anything that affects these two areas need to be spotted and nipped in the bud before it gets too late.

I would go as far as to say that anything less than taking FULL control and responsibility of sales and cash-flow is asking for trouble.

Contrary to popular belief, the perfect product will not just sell itself. You have to sell it until it builds up enough momentum to sell itself.

Neither will the money just take care of itself. You have to make it balance.

If you are truly committed about seeing a turnaround in your business, then these are two areas  you cannot afford to delegate or outsource.  You the owner are FULLY responsibility.

You should never be too busy to sell or to balance the money.

    Griselda, interesting post.
Certainly responsibility for cash flow can not be outsourced.
But now a days, good number of firms outsource part or end to end sales. However this depends on nature of business, kind of product/service
